Though the chateau was modelled on a Seventeenth-century French fortress, it was constructed solely in 2009, when architect Emad Khashoggi bulldozed a Nineteenth-century fortress to make manner for it. Situated on the outskirts of Paris between Versailles, as soon as the seat of the French royal household, and Marly-le-Roi, the development took three years, 200 employees, 13 kinds of marble and 15,000 sheets of gold to finish.

In 2015, the palatial villa, which spans over 57 acres, was bought to an undisclosed purchaser for a whopping $300 million. Two years later, The New York Instances revealed the proprietor of ‘the world’s most costly residence’ to be Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The chateau was one among his many opulent acquisitions, the others being a $500m yacht and a $450m Leonardo da Vinci portray.
