Diezani forfeits Abuja luxurious properties, vehicles to FG

The Federal Excessive Courtroom, Abuja on Monday, October 24, 2022, ordered the ultimate forfeiture of two Abuja properties and two luxurious vehicles belonging to a former minister of petroleum sources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to the Federal Authorities

The 2 properties are situated at Plot 1854 Mohammed Mahashir Road, and No. 6, Aso Drive, within the intellectual Asokoro and Maitama Districts of Abuja are valued at $2,674,418 and N380,000,000 respectively.

The luxurious vehicles are a black BMW saloon with Chassis No B8CV54V66629 and registered quantity, RBC155 DH and a black Jaguar saloon automobile with Chassis No SAJAA.20 GRDMv43376, valued at N36,000,000

Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon gave the order forfeiting the property to the Federal Authorities of Nigeria whereas ruling on the appliance by the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) in Go well with No. 1122/2021 and Go well with No 1123/2021, asking for the ultimate forfeiture of the property.

The Fee had on November 29, 2021 secured the interim forfeiture on the property in a ruling on separate movement ex-parte filed on September 27, 2021 which prayed the courtroom to order the interim forfeiture of the property on the grounds of cheap suspicion that they had been proceeds of illegal actions.

In granting the interim forfeiture order, Justice Olajuwon had ordered the EFCC to publish a discover in a nationwide newspaper, inviting anybody with curiosity within the property to indicate trigger why they shouldn’t be lastly forfeited to the Federal Authorities of Nigeria.

The courtroom consequently adjourned until January 22, 2022 for report.
